Traverse City Walks To School Day

Traverse City Walks to School Day is a community-wide, multi-school celebration of National Walk To School Day.

This year, Traverse City Walks to School Day is Wednesday, October 4th:

  • Bridgeway (Oak Park)
  • Central Grade
  • Creekside (New Campus)
  • Eastern
  • Immaculate Connection
  • Old Mission Peninsula
  • TCAPS Montessori
  • Traverse Heights
  • Trinity Lutheran
  • West Middle School
  • Willow Hill

As with most things in life, walking to school is best with friends, so make sure to invite your crew.

WALK DAY MEET-UPS:

As of October 2nd, we know of these schools that have organized meet-ups for families to walk to school together – FUN!:

  •  TCAPS Montessori – meet at Botanic Gardens @ 7:50 am
  • West Middle School – meet at the West side YMCA, far side of the parking lot, next to the Buffalo Ridge Trail @ 7:15 am
  • Eastern – meet at Clancy Park @ 8:30 am
  • Old Mission Peninsula School – meet at Peninsula Library @ TBD

If you would like to organize one for your school, please let us know at ty@goodworkslab.org and we’ll list it here.

WHAT IF I LIVE TOO FAR FROM SCHOOL?

Park & Strolls (driving, parking, and walking 5 minutes to school) totally count.

And, if you’re taking the school bus, that stroll to the bus stop counts as well.

ARE THERE PRIZES?

You betcha.

Prizes for:

  • school with the most walkers
  • teacher with the most walkers
  • 5 individual walkers (drawn randomly)

WHY CELEBRATE WALKING TO SCHOOL?
