Seeking and celebrating joy

We Fight Youth Team leader Will Unger, Gwen Urbain, and Alex Schwartz at the May 2, 2022 City Commission meeting, with TC Human Rights Commission member Jessica Forster, for the proclamation of Youth Mental Health Awareness Month.

Mental Health Awareness Month began yesterday. A critical moment for northern Michigan.

The pandemic has contributed to the rising rates of mental health challenges for our kids – it has also fueled this Fight.

I remain hopeful because of the many voices demanding change.

The City of Traverse City proclaimed May as Youth Mental Health Awareness Month this week, and I’m 100% here for it. Big thanks to We Fight Youth Team Chair Will Unger and Human Rights Commission member Jessica Forster for their hard work making this happen.

Please join us this May as we, like our friends at the JED Foundation, say:

  1. Find connection and support
  2. Ask for—and offer—help
  3. Seek and celebrate joy

Thank you for being part of We Fight and showing up for our kids.

I appreciate you.

Ty
