Over the past two years, we’ve seen how decisions in education shape the lives of our young people and their families.
We’ve seen that the community provided by a school can be a mechanism of support for students struggling with their mental health. That’s why we believe in the Michigan Education Justice Coalition‘s goal of “healthy and healing schools.”
With many school board officials up for reelection in 2022, we need compassionate individuals who care about the social and emotional well-being of our kids to fill the gap. If you feel like this might be you, check out this message from our friend Lauren Clark at Michigan Education Justice Coalition:
“The time is now to create healthy and healing schools for all. It’s time to take action and take space! 2022 will be a crucial year of school board elections across Michigan, and we need leaders ready to transform our public schools.
You’re invited to our virtual school board candidate training session on Tuesday, July 12 at 6:00 p.m.We will teach you how to run for a school board and build an effective campaign.
During our first session, we will focus on:
- Key education issues (funding, mental health, and curriculum)
- Vision for our schools
- School board members’ authority and responsibilities
These trainings were developed In partnership with Great Lakes Political Academy. To RSVP, visit our Action Network link.”
If anyone in We Fight wants to run for a school board position, I’ll help you/your campaign.
