I’m already six months into my three-year Changemaker Fellowship – as they say, time flies when you’re having fun.
So far I’ve loved teaming up with many ordinary people to practice The FrameWorks Insititute‘s research-based messaging reframes to better drive social change here in northern Michigan.
From school gun violence to youth mental health, housing, and access to parks, it’s been rewarding to learn alongside individuals working to improve their community by leveraging science, urgency, and stubborn optimism.
Adventures in Framing: A Northern Michigan Community of Practice is open to everyone regardless of your affiliation with an organization, nonprofit, or government agency.
Together we’re taking steps toward an Everyone a Changemaker Northern Michigan – Good Works Lab’s riff on Ashoka’s excellent Unloney Planet report.
Our next Adventures in Framing workgroup is next Thursday, August 11th, 11a-12p at NMC’s Innovation Center.
Thanks to Rotary Charities and the United Way of Northwest Michigan, there is no cost to attend these workgroups.
Agenda for August’s workgroup:
11:00-11:20 – The Features of Narrative: A Model of Narrative Form for Social Change Efforts
11:20-11:40 – How to Talk About the Building Blocks of Health
11:40-12:00 – Tapping into the Power of Metaphors
If you plan to attend next Thursday, please RSVP so I can reserve an appropriate space at the Innovation Center.
And if you missed July’s workgroup on FrameWorks’ new Culture Change Project, I’d love to chat with you about it if you’re interested in learning more. Contact me.
